Agora_Doc is run by PhD students and candidates, and is the junior research centre of AGORA (CY Cergy Paris), a multidisciplinary research centre for the human and social sciences whose work analyses the changes in contemporary societies, particularly in Europe, Asia and the Americas, by focusing on them from historical, political, sociological and linguistic perspectives.
For our first annual workshop we are open to short papers from any field of human and social sciences that pertain to this year’s workshop theme: Discourse, Identity, and power: Moving and shaking in the 21st century.
The term "movers and shakers" was coined by British poet Arthur O'Shaughnessy (1844–1881) in his 1874 poem "Ode", and is commonly used to describe powerful and worldly individuals and groups and those who make great accomplishments.
